やだ札
Inspired by various Fuda 札 (paper tags) which usually have deeper + more spiritual or mystical purposes (e.g. amulet to protect your home) I made these with one of the first words a young child learns — “やだ” which means no, I don’t like it, I don’t want it, stop it. How easy life would be if you didn’t like something (or someone!), you could just stick one of these onto the offending object. Enforcing boundaries and making your needs and voices heard is something that I struggled with as a child. Saying “no” in Japanese or English seemed to stubborn, too unruly, and impolite. I hope to produce these as stickers one day to make communicating “NO!” easier.

wedding invitations for a multicultural wedding with Chinese, Indian, and Japanese motifs. I wrote an in-depth look on the process of designing the invitation

sensASIAN Logo
I did design identity work for the brand sensASIAN, including their logo.
sensASIAN is a collective of Bay Area gender fluid Asian Pacific Islander artists- DJs, dancers, healers, performers, and multidimensional guides of all kinds.

tea crush label
I designed the bottle labels for Bay-Area based sparking tea company “Tea Crush”. There were many iterations of the label. See the design process here.

ahwanee
inspired by my first visit to Yosemite National Park, I recreated the view visible from Tunnel View Road. in particular, I was struck by the indigenous history of the Ahwanee people that is often left out when discussing the impact and history of the area.

smash the patriarchy chun tiao
打到父權春條 | Destroy Patriarchy Chun Tiao | Vector-based digital; with hopes of printing with gold foil in the future.
Chun Tiao are decorative strips of paper with auspicious, well-known phrases on them. Typically they have messages on them related to increasing and protecting the health and wealth of a household. Next Lunar New Year, perhaps you’ll be inspired to put up a Chun Tiao that is a bit more vocal in imagining a better future.

SRK 60 Logo
I designed a logo for an academic conference that was held to celebrate the 60th birthday of an acclaimed astrophysics professor; the professor was known to have a strong affection for rabbits.
